In heat treatment:
- the colour of wood will become darker, and this beautiful brown tinge is applicable to diverse applications, even to replace hardwood
- the equilibrium moisture content will decrease, which means that heat-treated wood is well suited to sites that are frequently wet or exposed to moisture in other ways
- moisture and other types of deformation will decrease, which means that the technique is well suited to parquetry, floors and applications requiring special dimension accuracy
- resin will dry or even completely disappear, which means that heat-treated wood is particularly well suited to sauna interiors and exterior cladding
- the toughness of wood will increase and, correspondingly, its tensile strength will decrease, which should be taken into account in structures
- heat insulation will increase by about 30 per cent
